Rasputin was very close to the people who determined the future of the Russian empire and without his personal charisma he would have had nothing. He had addiction problems and was very vulnerable and human; there were evil voices as well as God’s telling him what to do. There were other dark forces at work in Russia at that time and that is why I decided the stage should be a chessboard, since so many of the players in this drama were strong or weak at any given moment. Sometimes Rasputin was a major player, sometimes a pawn.
There is only a fine line between Good and Evil and this line is moveable.

We tend to find out and to point out who is the villain. As we cannot prove or express ourselves in black or whitealone, things are not that simple. There is only a fine line between Good and Evil and this line is moveable. There is strong shadow where there is much light.Who was Rasputin? It will be a mystery forever. While watching black and white images of historical materials, I imagine the emotions they evoke in colours.
